Desert Vista tops in Nike Web Nationals

    Accounting for a large share of the 8,430 team points were individual efforts by: Allante Battle in the 100m (10.69) and 400m (47.12), Matt Boughton in the 1,600m (4:23.19), Steve Figueroa in the shot put (58-10) and the discus (174-2), Chris Ingrassia in the 110m high hurdles (14.06) and high jump (6-8), Joel Lang in the pole vault (15-7), and Luke Mathews in the long jump (22-11 1/2).
   In the regular season, Desert Vista won a second consecutive state 5A title, setting a big-school record in the process (209.5 pts).
