Valley HS football players big part of ASU roster

    Desert Vista HS is the next most prolific in-state provider of football talent for the Sun Devils, with four former players on the roster – all young and offering four more years of service to the school.  They include three true freshmen and one redshirt freshman. The redshirt is the 5-9, 200 lb. Avory Battle.  The other trio includes wide receiver Allante Battle, defensive lineman Zed Togiai, and tight end Steven Figueroa.
    Two each from Chaparral HS, Peoria HS, Thunderbird HS, and Moon Valley HS include: former Firebirds, freshman cornerback Deveron Carr and junior wide receiver Kyle Williams…  a pair of former Panthers that includes redshirt freshman wide receiver T.J. Simpson and senior running back Keegan Herring…  former Chiefs, freshman redshirt punter/kicker Zach Richards and junior defensive end Dexter Davis… and a couple of upper classmen in former Rockets, junior wide receiver Chris McGaha and senior tight end Andrew Pettes.
    Rounding out the remainder of the 28 local athletes on the 2008 roster:  junior linebacker Mike Nixon (Sunnyslope), freshman Keelan Johnson (Mesa), sophomore running back Cole Ptacek (Sunrise Mtn), reshirt freshman Clay Davie (Pinnacle), senior linebacker Morris Wooten (Glendale), freshman linebacker Tom DeMichele (Arcadia), freshman Thomas Ohmart (Horizon), sophomore left tackle Jon Hargis (Red Mtn), and freshman offensive lineman Zach Schlink (Centennial), sophomore safety Mike Callaghan (Brophy), and freshman defensive end James Brooks (Flagstaff).
